Develop a Success Mindset – Is That Really All It Takes to Create Wealth?

I’m more of a literal girl. I go for the details and I’m very specific in all I do. I’ve read everything there is on personal development and how to develop a success mindset. I could tell you everything you are supposed to do to become successful in your home based business.

I knew what my “Why” was; I knew what my goals were. I had all the affirmations in the world going for me. I practiced the law of attraction…yet, where was the magical success I was supposed to have had by now? I came to the conclusion that this must work for everyone but me. I really didn’t understand how thinking positive and making goals actually made them come true in reality.

Anyone who is self employed and wants to build their business bigger and better spends time working on their personal development. Personal development books sold an average of over $10.6 Billion in the past few years. There are a lot of people trying to better themselves and become successful. However if everyone became successful from following all this great advice, we would certainly have a lot more millionaires then we do today. This goes to show that something is missing, and it isn’t only me who was missing it.

Then I had that moment that successful people talk about. It came shortly after the holiday break. The kids were home from school, and I had a lot of holiday plans that were taking me away from my business. I wasn’t able to work my business like usual. So I decided to take a short break and continue after my trip. This trip was the turning point for me and my business. I had a 15 hour drive ahead of me, and because my kids are really little, the only way I was going to attempt this trip was to go when they were asleep (which by the way they slept 12 out of the 15 hours – totally awesome!) So to keep myself occupied, I brought along 3 different CD training series, which totaled over 30 hours. I had purchased these awhile back, but never had the time to stop actively working to listen to them. I was really happy this trip would allow me the time to finally listen to them, and to keep my mind occupied instead of fighting driving fatigue. These trainings were great and helpful, but unfortunately there was no “ah-ha” moment for me like I was secretly hoping for.
It didn’t come until later. The weird thing was it didn’t come all at once either. It first started when I wasn’t prepared for it. I was folding laundry while listening to a webinar on mindset. I was a little annoyed at first that the big ta-da was about mindset. Honestly I have always considered this stuff “fluff”. I wanted the details; I wanted to know the “How”. But after listening for awhile, and not even taking notes (I’m a freak about notes!) it all started to sink in. All 30 hours from the trip came back and this training began a shift in my mind.

Then I finally took some advice from a current book I’m reading and physically sat down with some paper, a pen and a calendar. I created my goals for the next year, but it didn’t end there. I created specific dates to achieve these goals, but it didn’t even end there like it would have before. I went even further and wrote down the exact steps I would have to do to achieve these goals. Then I broke it down into which tasks will be done on which day of the week to meet those goals. Then I went a step further and handed that sheet to someone else to read out loud. Talk about accountability! It was at the end of this day that I felt the moment that everyone talks about. Because I’m such a detailed person, it took a lot more for me to feel it. I needed the specific ACTION steps I have to do so I could achieve my goals. This is a step that isn’t talked about all too often. Maybe it’s implied, but if you don’t put in writing what the action steps are for you to achieve your goals, you won’t fulfill them. So to answer the headline question, I would say “No”. Your mindset is not everything.

The major obstacle for most traders is taking their losses quickly and preserving their capital but all businesses have losses (overhead) and so long as your profits are bigger than your losses, you can make big gains over the long term.

Why bother with trying to get customers and sell to them, when this requires a huge investment of time and money, when you can simply buy and sell for profit in 30 minutes a day or less?

Nine Hurdles to Success and How to Conquer Them

Everybody wants to be successful. So do I. So do you. What makes somebody achieves his dreams and another one does not? A successful person has a dream and won’t give up. He cherishes his dream and does whatever it takes to get there. He overcomes the obstacles he encounters on his path. He does not complain, asking himself : Why does this always happen to me? but instead he looks how he can take action to overcome the obstacle.

Does a winner has to face less obstacles than a loser? No, not at all, but his attitude is different. When he faces obstacles, he reacts differently than the loser.

On your life path you will have to jump over a few hurdles. Accept it and move on. You will also need to conquer several kinds of resistance.

The most common ones are:
1. Fear of the unknown. People get used to the familiarity of the past and are afraid of anything new. This might lead you to decide to leave everything just the way it has always been. A winner knows that sticking with the old ways will never lead to satisfaction.

2. Fear to get involved. If you do not have the habit of engaging yourself, but rather passively undergo what others decide for you, then you will have to create new habits that give you the feeling you are actively creating your life, choosing what you want and making an effort towards your goal.

3. Fear that others will leave you. When your environment has gotten used to looking at you as a weak person, undecided, unhappy or sad, then you might be afraid of changing. Maybe you are afraid of losing their attention if you no longer show weakness, illness or fatigue. Is this the reason why you want to keep the status quo? Do you really want to continue suffering from the low vibrations of disease, despair, complaining, just to please your environment, afraid of losing their attention once your are successful?

4. Fear of success. If you got used to looking at yourself as a failure, not capable of doing anything right, then the idea of being successful might be quite uncomfortable. In this case you need to expand the image you have of yourself and start accepting that you too can succeed and be happy, and enjoy abundance in your life.

5. Refuse to be tested along the way. Be aware that you will be tested along the way, in order to make sure your choice is clear and firm, that you are sticking to your decision to walk your own path. The firmness of your decision and the depth of your engagement will be proofed. Accept this and move on.

6. Negative thoughts about life. Carrying negative beliefs about life will make it difficult to attain success, riches and happiness. Make a list of all your negative thoughts and systematically replace them by positive ones. Encourage yourself on your way to success instead of cutting yourself down.

7. Refuse to start anything before you are 100% sure to succeed. You will never have absolute certainty as your mission is constantly unfolding as long as you live. Look at it as a journey. It’s a process, an itinerary, where the important thing is who you are becoming along the way rather than where you are arriving. When you are experiencing more energy, joy, enthusiasm and wealth, then you can be sure to have made the right choice. This ought to be enough to dare take some risk and take some big decisions.

8. Being oversensitive to remarks from people around you. To complete your mission and stay your course you need to learn to face negative remarks from your environment. Surround yourself with people who support and encourage you, and ignore the remarks of those frustrated people who prefer cutting you down over taking charge of their own life. Leave their remarks with them, as their remarks say more about who they are than about who you are. Especially don’t start analyzing their behavior, but rather concentrate on your own life goal. This way you are an example for all who one day also start living their mission.

9. Thinking you still need a lot of time to prepare yourself. Make sure not to waste too much time and energy on lengthy preparations and considerations. There’s no need to go get professional help all the time. One day you will have to get your feet wet yourself. It doesn’t have to be perfectly planned before you can get it going. It is practice that makes perfect! What matters is to take that first step and start things up. Your experience in the field will eventually turn you into an expert. You cannot obtain experience through endless thinking and preparing. Concrete action is the only ground you can build on.

Do not be discouraged. This resistance is part of the package. A life without challenge would be quite boring. Make use of your resources to make sure you stay on track.

In any case, you will be enjoying more energy and happiness, now that you head towards your goal and overcome your resistance to change. This energy and joy can be radiated to your environment, and your example will urge others to start looking for their own mission.

The Success Equation and the Seven Myths About Manifesting Abundance

We’ve heard it all a million times: the various secrets of how to manifest lives of abundance. Every “Guru” has their own angle; a singular approach to manifesting that we’ve all tried. And yet, in spite of the countless Gurus offering books, programs, products, etc that espouse the “secret to manifesting” we are in the biggest Global economic and well-being crisis since the Great Depression. What does that say? That somehow we, as brilliant and intelligent human beings have failed the “secrets” that have been taught to us? I know this is not true.

And yet, as a Sustainable Success Coach, I have countless talented individuals come to me saying that there must be something seriously wrong with them because they have diligently applied the principles of affirmations, positive thinking, visualization and The Law of Attraction and yet they just can’t get the “truth in manifesting” to work for them. They come to me believing that they haven’t found a way to fix their character flaws or their lower selves in order to “allow” in abundance.

The truth is that everyone already has within them the ability to manifest lives of Sustainable Success. Sustainable Success is lasting and fulfilling abundance. “Sustainable Success” is created through applying an equation and not any one singular thing. There are three key factors that form the basis of the equation:

1. Defining what Abundance and Success is for you. Not adopting some outside opinion or value that isn’t consistent with the core of who you are, but identifying the definition that is representative of your own values.

2. Applying ALL aspects of yourself in the manifestation process that means accepting the TOTALITY of who you inherently are as a human being. Each of us is a perfect blend of ingredients that when used together create the perfect recipe for success. If we only use one or a few of the ingredients in the recipe, the dish doesn’t turn out successfully.

3. Understanding that you cannot have wealth without well-being and well-being without wealth. One without the other will serve to prevent sustainability of any success that you may initially create for yourself.

The definition process in #1 is essential before you can successfully begin to create Sustainable Success. If you can’t define what success or abundance is, you won’t be able to achieve it. Too many people think that a definition is a desired tangible object. One must define success based upon the essence of the thing or things that you want to achieve for yourself. Some examples of definitions of success as published in a recent magazine and quoted by notably successful entrepreneurs from many industries are as follows:

Question: ‘HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?’

Answer:
* “Earning a living doing what I love doing, whether it be making a film, writing a script or riding a skateboard.”
* “Doing what you love and doing it well.”
* “I define a successful man as a happy man. A happy man has a family that he loves and work that he enjoys.”
* “Happiness! If you are happy, then you must be a success!”
* “Being happy in every area of life: business, family, and philanthropy.”

What is your definition? Take the time to develop your own definition. When using words like: Happiness, be sure to define what that means for you too. Too many of us are in the practice of using words that identify what we want to achieve and we don’t even have definitions for them.

The following Seven mistruths will keep you from being able to accomplish the second key to achieving Sustainable Success:

1. Do what you love and the money will follow.
2. Follow your heart and not your head.
3. Lead with your head and not your heart.
4. There is only now, don’t think about the past because it is already gone or about the future because it hasn’t arrived yet.
5. One must transcend the lower self in order to achieve happiness and success.
6. Letting go of ego is key to manifesting success.
7. “Negative” thoughts are our enemy.

All of us have within us emotional, rational, intellectual and creative bodies. And, we all seek to achieve security and recognition in our lives. Thus, to disown any one part or natural expression of ones self is literally to disconnect from ourselves. If we disconnect and identify any one part as “bad” we are not utilizing all of our divine natural gifts and talents.

We all have areas that we feel we are strongest in; but we can strengthen those other areas with practice and by creating a community around us that supports our journey. To force ourselves not to have certain thoughts, or to think of any aspect of ourselves as “negative parts” that need to be gotten rid of is the ultimate act of self-injury and doesn’t provide the self acceptance that is necessary in manifesting the wealth and well-being that we all desire to achieve.

It is in the acceptance of ourselves as inherently whole and managing a balanced interplay between all components of ourselves that successfully achieves sustainable abundance. Balancing inspiration with perspiration; emotion with reason; being in the now while keeping an eye to the future and having the wisdom to reflect on the past; dreaming up a dream and developing and implementing a plan to make that dream a reality; deciding what wealth and well-being is to you and knowing that wealth is not sustainable or fulfilling without well-being and well-being isn’t possible without wealth; all equals utilizing the sum of all parts of yourself for the achievement of long-term successful and fulfilling outcomes.

In the end, YOU, as you are right now, are the Success equation-it is ready to be unleashed and directed for the Sustainable Success that is yours to have.

Why Big Companies Don’t Do Business With You: 7 Steps for Fixing That

The Whale Hunters like to talk about the “aperture of perception” – that lens through which you focus your prospects’ attention and govern what they see and experience.

Everything that touches the whale (big company prospects) contributes to the buyers’ overall perception of you-for example:
* Telephone answering
* Website
* Location
* Communications
* Print materials and proposals
* D&B profile
* Testimonials

Whales are afraid of smaller companies; they feel safer with other big companies, like themselves. Yet they want the advantages that a small company can offer-undivided attention, innovation, agility, speed of decision-making. Trouble is, they won’t buy advantage when they’re fearful. So the key is to allay their fears by controlling the aperture of perception. Show them many signs that look like, sound like, and feel like “large.”

Here are seven steps to looking larger:
1. Brand
Brand your product or service, not your key person or people. The founding entrepreneur often starts our selling, delivering, and managing-especially in a professional services company. The sooner you can shift the customer’s focus from an individual to a service brand, the faster you will be able to grow and the larger you will appear.

2. Team
Even whales may have bios of their leadership team on the website. But these are professional and objective. On your website and in your literature, eliminate any references to hobbies, pets, and other folksy traits; use uniform head-shot or business casual photos

3. Location
If you are based in a small city or town and want to do business with big-city whales in other states, establish a big city presence in one or more of your target areas. This can be as simple as a virtual location through an executive center or other shared office space arrangement. A professional receptionist, find-me phone service, and local address will send the message.

4. Website
Make your website all about the buyers, not you about you. Who are you trying to attract and what will they be looking for? Some good whale websites are organized according to the size of the customer who is visiting – i.e. consumer services, small business services, enterprise services. Consider how your this kind of distinction could help your website achieve the right tone for both whales and non-whale customers.

5. Niche
Be careful how you present your niche in digital and print materials. WBE/MBE designations are a good example. They position you as a subcontractor and/or a company competing for set-aside projects. If that is the position you intend to occupy, then go for it. But if you also want to be a prime contractor and compete on an equal footing with bigger companies, you will find it extremely difficult to change a whale’s mindset about that pigeonhole in which they’ve placed you. In fact, it could be a reason to have completely separate divisions or companies, one marketed as a WBE/MBE and the other not.

6. Media/News Page
Write a press release each time you sign a new customer, receive an award, achieve a revenue milestone, appoint a new employee or give a raise. Post the releases on your website and maintain a news page with links to each. These press releases have little news value except to you, but they send a message that you are a company that sees itself as newsworthy. On your media page, offer contact information for how media people should reach your PR team-even if that is through your primary phone number and a PR@yourcompany.com email address.

7. Product/Service White Papers
Invest in preparing white papers to supplement your marketing copy. A white paper is a report that makes a business case or explains technical details. It places your products/services in a broader business and technical context. Promote these as free downloads on your website and include them as appropriate during a sale. The white paper is not primarily about your product or service but about what it helps the buyer to accomplish and /or how it works. Consider including industry white papers, written by others, on your website to help educate your prospects.
